Orangut in a Nutshell
Orangut (au-rang-utt) is a pre-hosted web-based submission and event management system. A major use-case of Orangut is in helping organizers of conferences, competitions, fests and other events manage the data and content of their events and streamline their processes and activities: all online. Another scenario where Orangut can be used is by teachers, professors, teaching assistants and students in colleges, universities and schools to effectively manage academic assignment and homework submissions. Beyond this, the effective usage of Orangut is left to the imagination of its users, owing to its highly generic nature.

Orangut is characterized by extreme ease of use, high productivity enhancement, security of data and cost effectiveness. It also facilitates event promotion on the Internet and fosters an environment where like-minded people can collaborate for a constructive cause.

In order to ensure that "the community" benefits righteously from Orangut, we have decided to keep most of our services free forever. And, we'll ensure that you always get the best out of them, while the openness of our system will help reduce bureaucracy that is uncalled for. Probably that is why we advocate "open-minded" management!

Vision and Mission
We at Orangut have a dream: to eradicate all the problems related to the management of activities and content and to create a platform where co-workers can collaborate with each other in a more systematic way! This in turn will also pave the way for better interaction between knowledge seekers and those who wish to disseminate knowledge to others. That's what made us plunge into developing an open submission, competition, conference and event management system that we envision will go a long way in creating a healthy and conducive environment for competition, research, learning, education and networking in general.

The Orangut Story
We are a bunch of people who like everyone else love enjoying life, hanging out with friends, partying, watching movies, listening to music, drinking coffee [and a lot of other things :P] and above all day-dreaming :)

After graduating from college, we all went our own ways. But, soon we realized that we were not doing something that was of any use to the world, or things we were passionate about, and above all, it was not something that would solve real life problems - problems that we had faced during our yester-years. After 18 months of running around all over the world, we came back together and decided to get glued to our passion and do something that is cool and exiting, and at the same time also make lives easier.

We started from where we left in college: our first attempt at making our dreams come true was the development of a Learning Management System for our undergrad college Jaypee Institute of Information Technology, Noida. That's where we got our inspiration from... and then Orangut was born: a startup by three individuals who call themselves The Orangutans. All of us are software engineers, or we'd rather say technology freaks who eat, drink, walk, talk, sleep and live technology. Collectively, we have decent exposure to the Indian and international markets. Our team has the experience of working with companies like Infosys, Sapient and also hold degrees from Ivy Leagues. We are mentored by people who have decades of experience in the field of education and also by several industry professionals whose valuable inputs ensure that Orangut keeps evolving and impacting its users' lives in a positive way.
